It’s the new year, which means a fresh slate to change things. What do you want most from 2019? Maybe it’s to be happier, or a way to earn more. Maybe it’s the opportunity to learn new skills or find a community that you can call your own. Whatever you want to do, this year is your year.
We may be a bit bias, but 2019 is also a great year to earn a better a salary or start a new career in software engineering, data science, or UX/UI Design. We’ve seen firsthand how tech can create a meaningful impact with each graduating cohort. Our students are our biggest inspiration and we’re proud to have helped hundreds of students land jobs that match their passion. Here are just a few reasons to start changing things, courtesy of our incredible Flatiron School alumni.
Change things because…
…you want to make an impact.
Remmy L.2020世界杯40强赛赛程 was a lawyer in Australia, but wanted a career that was exciting and meaningful. She enrolled in our Online Software Engineering Immersive and landed a job in Denver at a company that’s helping to fight climate change. She not only changed her job, but she also changed continents and now her work is improving the world.
…you want a better career.
There’s a time and place for every job. Sergio M. was a bartender in Las Vegas and had fun for a while. But, he wasn’t getting younger and bartending was far too repetitive. Sergio discovered he could start his own career with code and became a software engineer in Denver. Sergio M. sums it up succinctly: “Flatiron School changed my life.”
…you want opportunities.
Sometimes the job you thought you always wanted doesn’t pan out. That’s fine, but you don’t have to accept settling for less. Aimee M. went from a career in a music industry that stalled out to a job as an automation developer at Crate and Barrel. Not bad at all.
…you want to connect to people.
Cindy W. was a copywriter who didn’t know if her work was affecting the people the way it should. She wanted a career where her work was influenced by her audience. Cindy became a UX designer and uses her research and feedback from users to create products and services as a Design Researcher for Walgreens.
…you can and you want to.
Most importantly, change things because you want them to be changed. Even if you think it’s trivial, a tiny change could improve your life. That’s because it can be the catalyst to even greater change throughout 2019. Think about things big and small that directly impact your life and identify any areas of improvement. It could be learning a new skill or a proper career change. Whatever it is, it’s up to you and you can do it.
These are just a few of the many stories of change we hear every day from our current Flatiron School students and alumni2020世界杯40强赛赛程.
